Our researchers will be showcasing their projects, and demonstrating the use of our field and laboratory equipment such as home energy monitoring, blower door testing, indoor environment monitoring, thermal cameras, electric vehicle control, photovoltaic systems, and of course the Team UOW Illawarra Flame Solar Decathlon house will be open to look through.
Comprise of regular presentations in which we hope to inspire guests with project details, activities or concepts that they can take away to inform decisions in their own projects.
The ‘Expert Desk’ is an opportunity to be able to ask for sustainable building or retrofit advice from a trusted source. We liken it to ‘building sustainability speed dating’, and we hope to inspire guests with project details, advice or concepts that they can take away to inform decisions in their own homes.
The SBRC survey investigates upgrades, renovations and energy use in our homes. Everyone should come to the Open Day and take part in the survey to assist SBRC researchers to discover ways to effectively use energy, making our homes more affordable places to live.
Come and investigate some of the key features of the first 6 Star Green Star- Education Design v1 accredited building in the Illawarra. The SBRC building was designed and constructed based on the principles of the Living Building Challenge, pushing the boundaries of sustainable design and construction with hopes to inspire communities throughout Australia to take action on sustainability
