Event description

Description

Learn how to make beautiful baskets from repurposed plastic bags and colourful yarn with Ainsley Warner from Wild Fibres Basketry!

Wild Fibres basketry workshops combine traditional coil weaving practices with modern materials. They're designed for people with no basketry skills at all, as well as those with existing skills who are wanting to learn to work with new fibres. Basketry is just as much a creative process as it is calming, social and meditative. It's about stepping back from the daily rush of life, to take time out.

This workshop is an amazing opportunity to be creative with your sustainability practices by learning how to transform plastic bags and even old t-shirts or other materials into functional and beautiful objects. With repurposed plastic bags and an array of colourful yarn, you'll learn all the steps to making a basket, as well as two different stitches to create a variety of aesthetics.

Please bring along TWO regular plastic grocery bags from your local grocer.

What you'll take home in your Wild Fibres Pack:

- your own chenille needle

- step by step quide to basketry

- fibre directory

- yarn to weave your basket
