Sustainability in Learning & Teaching Masterclass
Event Information
Description
Outline:
RMIT aims to integrate sustainability into course curricula, professional development and learning experiences. Education for Sustainability (EfS) is defined as “An approach to education, teaching and learning that prepares people to cope with, think critically about, and shape social, economic, political and ecological conditions characterised by change, uncertainty, risk and complexity” (Stevenson, Davis, Ferreira & Evans, 2012, p.3). This masterclass looks at Sustainability in Learning and Teaching through the twin lenses of Education for Sustainability (EfS) and Education about Sustainability (EaS).
Leanne Denby, Director of Sustainability at Macquarie University will lead this masterclass. Leanne has been working at Macquarie University as the Director of Sustainability since March 2008. Reporting into the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer, her primary responsibility is to design and deliver the approach to strategically embedding sustainability into policy, process and practice. This involves working across the campus with the various Faculties, departments and offices within four key areas: Leadership and Governance, Learning and Teaching, Partnerships and Engagement, and Facilities and Operations.
