Event description
Hosted by the UNTHSC Office of Sustainability, this panel discussion will address sustainability in the healthcare industry.

About this Event

How are sustainability practices being implemented in the healthcare industry? This event will introduce answers to this question at a local, regional, and global level. Four panelists will speak briefly on topics related to:

  • The United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Regional Centre of Expertise of North Texas
  • Initiatives in hospitals and clinics here at Parkland Health & Hospital System
  • How laboratories and researchers can operate more sustainably
  • Student perspectives in healthcare

The audience will then engage the panel in a discussion followed by a time for networking. Panelists include:

  • Meghna Tare, chief Sustainability Officer UT Arlington and Regional Centre of Expertise of North Texas
  • Kristi Davis, Waste Stream Coordinator, Parkland Health & Hospital System
  • Derek Schreihofer, Associate Professor, UNTHSC
  • Nivi Sukumar, Student (TCOM) UNTHSC

This event will be entirely zero-waste with composting provided by Cowboy Compost. Free vegetarian burrito bowls will be served. We are proud to partner with UNTHSC's Environmental Conservation Interest Group (ECIG) in planning and promoting this event.
