About this event

In this webinar, we will be joined by environmental expert alumnus Michael Long (Lendlease) and Professor Seeram Ramakrishna (National University of Singapore) who will discuss all things sustainability, the circular economy, and how the Singapore Green Plan 2030 will advance Singapore’s national agenda on sustainable development.

The circular economy advocates keeping products, components, and materials at their highest utility and value at all times and is estimated to give a global benefit of $2 trillion. The demand for a shift to the circular economy is increasing among businesses and the economic rationale for moving towards a circular economy is strong as it increases the resilience of value chains and secures supply stability. Now a high-traction topic among policy-makers, business leaders, and thinkers across the economy, circular economy thinking has begun to drive the development of circular business models in a variety of industries and in local governments.

Alumni Guest Speaker: Michael Long

Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Assessment and Management) 1995

Michael is the Head of Sustainability, Asia for Lendlease, and is a qualified Environmental Scientist with over 20 years of international experience in public and private sector organisations.

Working in regional and global roles has allowed Michael to apply his expertise across areas ranging from climate resilience and carbon management to responsible investment and community development.

Michael is currently focused on working to further integrate climate scenario analysis planning and social impact value creation into all new investments and developments while continuing to strengthen operational resilience through efficiency initiatives in partnership with the supply chain.

With Lendlease now committing to being a 1.5 degree aligned company and to create $150M social impact by 2025, the urgency for action to align strategic long-term Business objectives with a climate changed economy is critical.
