Supreme Court of Victoria History and Heritage Tour
Fri. 28 October 2016, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm AEDT
The Supreme Court is the highest court in the state, hearing among the most serious criminal and civil cases, as well as appeals from some Victorian courts and tribunals. Enjoy a tour of the Supreme Court. View the magnificent library, walk the corridors, explore the history and perhaps see inside a courtroom. The Supreme Court building took 10 years to build and was completed in 1884. The heritage listed courthouse is a fine example of the classical Renaissance Revival style on a grand and imposing scale. The beautifully restored courtrooms feature elaborately moulded plaster and marvellously fitted joinery, and much of the original furniture and fixtures throughout the building remain today. *Please note photography is not allowed in the Court.
