Supreme Court of Queensland visit | Orientation Sem 1, 2021
Event Information
About this Event
Join your fellow first-years for an exclusive UQ experience and enter the Supreme Court of Queensland for a personalised introduction to the legal profession. You'll hear from barristers, solicitors, judges and more.
The first year cohort will be split into two groups with a maximum capacity of 170 in each, the first group will attend the morning session, and the second group will attend the afternoon session.
The groups will be accompanied throughout the program by UQ Law School staff members and student volunteers.
Upon arrival to the plaza area outside the QEII Courts of Law, students will need to register their attendance at the UQ Law School welcome desk and follow the instructions of the staff members who will instruct them on how to reach the Banco Court. It is imperative that you arrive at the arrival times listed below as social distancing limitations inside the elevators will be a timely exercise.
GROUP A - 9:45am arrival for a 10:30am start (Law/Econ duals - please select this group so you are able to make it to your Online Orientation Session later that day).
GROUP B - 12:45pm arrival for A 1:15pm start.
Please note:
- Business attire is required for this event.
- Due to social distancing requirements, the opportunity to visit a courtroom on the day will only be available to a limited amount of students from those in Group A only. Students who are otherwise unable to participate in the courtroom visit element are encouraged to return to the QEII Law Courts on their own time to witness an active trial or sentencing at a later date.
