Event description

Description

Given today’s globally-connected and increasingly fast-paced world, the social and emotional development of all our children has never been more important. For gifted (highly-able) children, these aspects take on even greater importance. Whilst being blessed with the inherent potential to think and perform at higher levels, they are frequently uniquely sensate which may impact their emerging personalities, outlook and vital coping mechanisms that will be needed in the school environment. This means that, as parents, we need to recognise that our gifted children may need greater support in their foundational social and emotional development.

Penny Willoughby is a renowned Australian specialist educator of gifted children and believes that all children have the right to reach their full potential. Penny works hands-on with gifted children, their parents and teachers to help each of them better understand and succeed. In this session, Penny will provide practical advice for parents to support gifted children’s social and emotional development. Penny will include real-life examples from her work and also encourage attendees to reflect on their child’s individual needs.

This session is aimed at supporting parents and carers of children up to 7 years or age.
