Event description

Description

In Focus Family Workshops are presented to a small group by experienced professionals. Sessions focus on a specific topic and focus on developing families and carers knowledge, understanding and skills in that particular area. Sessions aim to be interactive, practical and realistic for participants.

Girls often present with a unique profile from that of their male peer and are four times less likely to be diagnosed on the autism spectrum than boys.

It is essential to recognise how different girls are to boys typically and ensure that when we look at the unique needs of girls on the spectrum we also ensure we recognise that they are girls first and foremost.

This session looks at a range of topics including:

• Special interests and obsessions;

• Social and communication skills;

• Developing friendship skills;

• Internal anxiety and depression;

• Using their strengths to build self esteem; and

• Bullying.

Please note that this workshop will be run even with small numbers.

NDIS funding can be used to access this workshop.

Please register online and complete all additional questions regrading your child’s NDIS plan. The Autism SA Intake Team will follow up if any additional information is required.
