Pathological Demand Avoidance or PDA is a condition that is considered part of the Autism Spectrum by the National Autistic Society in the UK and is becoming increasingly recognised in Australia. It is characterised by extremely high levels of anxiety which lead to a child constantly trying to control their environment, resulting in demand avoidance, emotional regulation difficulties and severely challenging behaviour.

This workshop will provide parents and professionals with an explanation of what PDA is and how it fits within the Autism Spectrum, why traditional behaviour management strategies are not effective for PDA, and what can be done to support children with PDA both at school and at home.

Suitable for Parents, Educators and Allied Health Professionals.
