Event description

Description

Many teachers and early childhood educators will start the year knowing they have a child with Autism in their class - but what does that mean for the child and their experience of the classroom and playground? With an understanding of what Autism is and why children with Autism often struggle with learning and play, educators can develop the skills they need to support children with Autism to successfully navigate preschool and primary school settings.

In this workshop by Child Psychologist Raelene Dundon, teachers, early childhood professionals and support staff will:

  • Learn about what Autism is and what it isn't.

  • Develop an understanding of the way Autism impacts a child's ability to learn and play.

  • Identify strategies for supporting children with Autism in early childhood and primary school settings.

  • Have the opportunity to ask questions about children with Autism in their care and how they can be best supported.
