Event description

Description

Join us with special guests Vanessa Watson & Catherine Aurubind, president and vice president of GAIN Inc (Gynaecological Awareness Information Network Incorporated) for an educational afternoon designed to provide information on endometriosis, pudendal neuralgia and pudendal nerve entrapment.

'Possible symptoms of pudendal neuralgia (PN) and pudendal nerve entrapment (PNE) include burning, numbness, increased sensitivity, electric shock or stabbing pain, knife-like or aching pain, feeling of a lump or foreign body in the vagina or rectum, twisting or pinching, abnormal temperature sensations, hot poker sensation, constipation, pain and straining with bowel movements, straining or burning when urinating, painful intercourse, and sexual dysfunction – persistent genital arousal disorder (genital arousal without desire) or the opposite problem loss of sensation.' - GAIN Inc

Vanessa has many years experience as a Registered nurse, notably 5 years on a Urology / Gynaecology Ward. Due to chronic pain with various Gynaecological conditions, she was unfortunately forced to give up her career but now focuses on helping other women in Australia with their conditions both in the Pelvic Pain Support Group (alongside GAIN President, Catherine Aurubind) and over the telephone. Vanessa has also shared her story on Radio National, appeared in Newspapers and TV and is regularly called upon to speak at Nursing Conferences or Pain.

Catherine has suffered chronic pelvic pain after a hysterectomy in 2004 left her with severe entrapment of the Pudendal nerve. Along with Vanessa, she runs the Pelvic Pain Support Group, offering support, understanding and information for people suffering chronic pelvic pain issues.

Vanessa will be sharing her story on her journey with endometriosis and pudendal neuralgia and both Vanessa and Catherine will be available to answer questions.
