Event description

Getting the most out of your supervision and improving the future of supervision training for a growing workforce.

This three hour interactive workshop provides an overview of how best to conduct supervision, the challenges associated with it and opportunities for participants to contribute to a supervision training package expected to be rolled out by No to Violence in June 2018.

This workshop is for:

  • supervisors of men's family violence workers

  • workplace managers or co-ordinators that provide internal supervision to men's family violence workers

  • prospective supervisors looking to find out more about conducting supervision

Due to the specialist nature of this workshop, we advise people registering to ensure that one of the above criteria applies to them. This will ensure the workshop content is as relevant and engaging as possible for participants.

This workshop will cover:

  • An outline of supervision frameworks and their application in the MBCP context

  • Some common challenges of MBCP work for supervisees:

- The mingling of the professional and personal in work with men using family violence and those impacted by their behaviour

- Vicarious trauma, brown-out and burn-out risk

- Working with uncertainty and complexity in a risk environment

  • Managing gender in the supervision relationship

  • Managing power in the supervision relationship

  • A group brainstorm session to inform further supervision training for the men's family violence sector
