Successful software   implementation projects - Why a Business Process Approach?

Many presentations and publications explain HOW to run software implementation projects in a process-centric manner; the mechanics of doing so are quite well known, even if not always followed. The critical element often missing is a clear and shared understanding of WHY you should run a software implementation project in a process-centric manner.

A variety of approaches have been developed by software vendors and its implementation partners to reduce risks and improve the quality and speed of software implementations. However successful an implementation is from a project and technical perspective, true business success can only be measured post-delivery, based on the solution’s impact over time, using business impact metrics such as the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Return-On-Investment (ROI).

Drawing on considerable practical project experience, this presentation demonstrates a proven methodology that improves preparation and planning for software implementations, enabling measured, meaningful, and proven change. An approach is presented that allows business benefit measures to be determined, benchmarked, and tested allowing a meaningful assessment of software implementation success.

Learning Objectives:

• Importance of process in software implementation

• Measuring business benefits from software implementation

• Assessing software project success

• Ensuring business success for software projects
