Event Details

As a result of completing this one day course participants will be able to identify & implement many of the necessary components towards building a successful practice within sports massage. Participants will treat more purposefully with a high awareness of their attitude and the application of efficient effective technique.

The course will focus on 3 main aspects: Practice building, Skill development & working with sporting teams.


Robert Granter - BSocSci(Deakin) AdDipRemMass(Myo)(RMIT)

Rob has 31 years experience in Soft Tissue Therapy/Massage Therapy practice and is one of Australia’s most respected practitioners & educators in this field. He has delivered over 50 conference presentations in Australia, New Zealand & England.

 He is a contributor to the textbook “Clinical Sports Medicine” by Drs Brukner & Khan, now in its 5th edition, which is the largest selling book worldwide in the field of Sports Medicine.

He is co-founder of the Australasian College of Soft Tissue Therapy and is on the editorial board of the British Journal of Sports Medicine.

 He has been head of Massage Therapy / Myotherapy for:

The Sports Medicine Centres of Victoria group practice 5 years
Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre 6 years
Victorian Institute of Sport 10 years

The 2006 Commonwealth Games, Melbourne            
The 1996 Australian Olympic teams to Atlanta USA

The 2000 Australian Olympic teams to Sydney
The 1998 Australian Commonwealth Games team to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

 Rob is currently in private practice in Melbourne and is a senior teacher at Diploma & Advanced Diploma levels at the Melbourne Institute of Massage Therapy.

General information:

To book: please book via the ATMS website or phone the ATMS office on 1800 456 855.

CPE: 6 CPE points (ATMS policy accrues 1 CPE point for each hour of approved educational time).

ATMS Cancellation policy: bookings cancelled between 7 and 21 days before the seminar date are able to transfer the booking to another seminar. Bookings cancelled with less than 7 days notice before the seminar date will not be entitled to any refund.

Please note - if it is deemed that a seminar is not viable, it may be postponed or cancelled by ATMS. Participants of the seminar would be notified of the postponement or cancellation approximately 1 week before the scheduled date of the seminar.

Please bring: your lunch, massage table, towels and treatment cream/lotion.  Participants should dress to treat and be treated in the upper and lower body. The practical component of the seminar will only work well if there are enough tables. It is important that you let ATMS know asap if you are not able to bring a table.

Notes: the link for viewing the seminar notes will be emailed out to participants one (1) week before the event.  Please familiarise yourself with the content and bring a copy to the event if you wish. A paper copy is not supplied at the event.

Please be aware that it is not permissible to bring children to ATMS seminars.
