Suburban Speed Dating at The Smug Fig
Fri. 24 March 2017, 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm AEST
Well, hello and welcome to the first Suburban Speed Dating event at The Smug Fig!
We're not smug about love so when a friend suggested we hold a speed dating event for local Brisbane singles of course we said, I do! I mean... we will!
We're not certified psychologists or a dating agency so we're not going to use algorithms to match couples, but we thought we could provide a relaxed space so a bunch of genuine singles can meet other genuine singles in person instead of on the interwebs.
So if you're interested in meeting people in real life and/or are sick of being catfished this is the place for you.
Who is this event for?
This event is for young professionals aged 25-35 who are ready to meet that special someone.
We have a set number of 'All the single ladies' and 'All the single men' tickets. This is to ensure we have equal numbers.
What happens at a speed dating event?
You'll be placed at a table, and be given 5 minutes to say hello and share some crucial information about yourself (Do you like coriander!?), then you'll move to the next table. Use the conversation cards on the table if you're nervous. Make an impression and you might score some digits. Our lovely host will ensure the conversation flows too. Too easy, right!?
Here's the rundown of the event:
• 6.00pm - Grab your your drink, have a bite to eat and mingle
• 6.30pm - Speed dating commences
• 7.30pm-8pm - Intermission
• 8-9.30pm - Speed dating continues
• 9.30pm - Speed dating ends + Last call for drinks
• 10pm - Event concludes
What is included in my ticket price?
Your ticket includes entry, a drink of your choice (see below for options) and nibbles on arrival. It also includes our administration costs to run the event like paying the barman.
What food and beverages are on offer?
We'll be serving refreshing beverages to cater to all tastes such as Corona, Light beer, Wine (red/white/sparkling), Cider, Soft drink and water.
We'll also have a few platters (v/gf/df options) with dips, veggie sticks, rice crackers, olives etc.
*Please note the kitchen will not be open during the event.
How do I get there?
Plenty of options! We're super close to the Coorparoo Train station, and bus connections from Wolloongabba include the 212/184.
What about parking?
There's plenty of parking in local streets around the cafe.
What if I missed out on a ticket this time?
We anticipate we will hold additional events based on demand. Please shoot us a message if you're interested in coming along, and stay tuned on our Instagram.
