Whatever your experience level, this is your workshop to get started!
Join our small class to gain the basics in DIY Upholstery, and confidence to tackle larger projects in the future.
Over two huge days you will learn to strip your bridge chair, re-web/spring and stuff it, and apply final fabric.
This is the ideal workshop to tackle an occasional chair, footstool or dining chair The skills you learn here will apply to a whole range of projects you’ll be keen to take on in the future!
Cost includes all materials, hardware and light refreshments. BYO bridge chair and 2.2m of fabric.
Bridge chairs are closer in size to a dining chair than an arm chair, have open timber arms, and an upholstered seat & back. Bridge chairs do not have removable cushions or pleated diamond buttons.

Example projects Suitable for this workshop:
Bridge chairs, or those sharing Bridge charactertistics - notably, Timber arms, upholstered seat & Back, Small frame (closer to a dining chair than an armchair)
PROJECTS TO AVOID:
(Fabric arms, TV Chairs with loose cushions and visible timber frames, diamond buttoning, tub chairs, frames which move easily when jiggled) These projects are possible, though may require more than 2 Saturdays - please contact maaike - firstname.lastname@example.org with a photo of your chair to discuss further.
* this course will not cover substantial timber repair- chairs with loose or broken frames are not suitable projects.
* this course will not cover machine sewing. Chairs with multiple loose cushions eg Danish style TV chairs are not suitable projects.
*You MUST be able to bring and remove your project each week as there is no opportunity to store projects on site between classes.
THE FINE PRINT:
We have class minimums and in the case we don’t make them you be offered a refund or class transfer to a later date.
Projects MUST be approved at least 7 days prior to the course start date. Please email a photo of your project when you enroll, to confirm suitability.
In the event your project is too ambitious for the course you will be given the option of a full refund.
If your photo is received after this cut off period and deemed unsuitable for the course you will not be eligable for a refund or course transfer due to insufficient notice.
If you are unsure of your project's suitability for any reason, please email images to email@example.com prior to enrolling and completing payment.
Due to limited numbers and minimum run requirements, cancellations are only refundable up to 7 days prior to the event. Cancellations occurring 7 days or less prior to the start date will not be refunded, nor transferred to later dates. If you can no longer attend for any reason, consider friends or family who might make the most of your investment!.
The workshop series is limited to 14 hours of teaching in the dates and times specified. Please be punctual and factor in that parking can be difficult after 9am on weekends.
Additional session times may be organised as necessary at a rate of $85/hour.
