Wellbeing in Creative Training for Entertainment Industry – Why it matters. What you can do about it.
Why is mental health now on the agenda of arts training? Isn’t mental health at odds with creative risk-taking? What are the costs of mental ill health – to individuals, to relationships, to the entertainment industry, to society? This highly interactive 2 hour session has been designed to build upon your own current experience, knowledge or awareness of mental health issues that exist in our industry and to give you practical next steps to support your students.
Dr Mark Seton (pictured below), currently a researcher with The University of Sydney, has a background in film and TV production, as well as musical direction, and is an Ambassador for Entertainment Assist and its national survey of mental health challenges of performing artists, and live and recorded production crews (https://www.entertainmentassist.org.au/). In this session he will provide input from the research data as well as facilitate practical conversations and steps for action to support and enhance the health and wellbeing of the next generation currently training for the entertainment industry.
