Description

The Royal Women’s Hospital and Bendigo Health invite you to attend an important forum for the Victorian hospital sector:

What: Strengthening Hospital Responses to Family Violence Statewide Forum 2017
When: Friday 25 August, 9.30am to 4.00pm

You can’t afford to miss this!

Every Victorian public hospital is required to strengthen its response to Family Violence in its Statement of Priorities (SOP). The Victorian Government is investing $38.4 million over the next four years to support hospitals with this work.

This funding responds to recommendation 95 from the Royal Commission into Family Violence that public hospitals are resourced to implement a ‘whole of hospital’ response model.

The Strengthening Hospital Responses to Family Violence initiative provides Victorian hospitals with the direction and resources needed to meet SOP obligations.

Through this work hospitals have the potential to not only empower people affected by family violence but to also contribute to enhanced health outcomes and potentially save lives.

This forum will provide you with:

• Information about how to extend/adapt the Strengthening Hospital Responses to Family Violence model to your local health service environment

• Insight into how to support your staff to identify and respond to family violence across the life span

• Inspiration from other hospitals facing the same challenges

• Ideas for driving culture change around family violence

• Guidance on how to support your staff who may be experiencing family violence themselves

Speakers include:

Hon. Jill Hennessy, Minister for Health:
The Victorian Government's committment to family violence

Sue Matthews, CEO, the Women's:
How hospitals can improve their response to family violence

Kelsey Hegarty, Chair for the Prevention of Family Violence, University of Melbourne and the Women's:
A global picture on health system responses to family violence

Pia Cerveri, Project Organiser, Victorian Trades Hall Council:
Working with victim/survivors and perpetrators in the workplace

Jayne Dullard, Former Executive Director of Communications, the Royal Children's Hospital:
Driving culture change - learnings from the implementation of an EMR

As well as a panel discussion on the nuances in responding to family violence and guidance on how to implement an effective Family Violence Workplace Support Program. The full program will be available here soon!

Whatever stage your health service is at in responding to family violence, attending this forum will be time well spent.
