Strength in Self (Compassion)
Event Information
About this Event
For so long, the dominant message within our society was that sensitivity, acceptance and compassion for others, and ourselves, would put us at a disadvantage. However, what we are increasingly finding in our modern world, is that those more feminine qualities bring about incredible strength and resilience – for both men and women.
Self-compassion, as opposed to unrealistic expectations, criticism, judgement and even shame, makes us stronger and more open to taking risks and living a life of courage. This workshop is about developing the capacity within ourselves for greater self-compassion – for our benefit, as well as our loved ones, our colleagues or team members, and for living a life free of the constraints that criticism, pressure and judgement place on us.
This workshop aims to reframe our inner foundation to one of greater awareness, mindfulness, and self-compassion, so that we may go out into the world feeling more sure of who we are and what we stand for.
We will cover:
Explore what self-compassion is and isn’t
The practice of R.A.I.N as a guide for mindful presence
How shame destroys our soul and keeps us locked in repeating patterns
The Inner Critic versus The Inner Mentor – How to reduce the power of the inner critical voice
Meditations, reflections and strategies for bringing greater mindfulness and self-compassion into our lives.
Your facilitator:
Dani Hanrahan is a Masters-trained psychotherapist and counsellor who co-created Slowwell in 2020. Following an early career in journalism, Dani felt called towards understanding herself in a deeper way, so at 29, she decided to swap her comfortable job for full-time study. A year into study, she joined the team at progressive psychology practice, The Indigo Project, where she facilitated the Get Your Sh*t Together course, the Learn to Meditate course, as well as several workshops for corporations on mindfulness, meditation, stress management, boundaries and creativity. She brings her experience in this area, and her love for helping others, to what she does at Slowwell.
