This workshop has been developed with the Professional Practitioner in mind. It is an opportunity to educate and provide clinicians and pain

About this Event

This workshop has been developed with the Professional Practitioner in mind. It is an opportunity to educate and provide clinicians and pain rehabilitation professionals with the knowledge and the means to efficiently create effective exercise programs using strength and conditioning principles. This course also aims to extend the scope of care for private practice clinicians with the goal of achieving greater outcomes and enhanced client independence.

Workshop Outcome:

To develop the knowledge and competency to effectively and efficiently create personalised, tailored and progressive exercise programs for pain rehabilitation using strength and conditioning principles and methods. Templates provided to allow for immediate implementation using the systems that we use daily in our practice.

Areas of discussion and consideration:

What is pain? What are we trying to help our clients overcome?

Individual client considerations for program design.

Mechanisms of effect of Strength and Conditioning (Structural vs functional).

Program design. Programs structured to address client needs.

Progression models.

About your Presenter:

Carey Wheeler - Clinical Myotherapist

My journey with pain led me to pursue studies in personal training, strength and conditioning and then, to become a myotherapist, a bachelor degree in Clinical Myotherapy. I took this journey because I always felt that the treatment I had been receiving was incomplete. Getting temporary relief from my pain was nice but I still felt weak, vulnerable and as though I was not in control of my own wellbeing. After trying a lot of different avenues and giving each therapists approach the value it deserved I knew that the treatments I had received were missing something.

As a myotherapist, my treatment philosophy has evolved from my own successes and failures as a pain sufferer. I know the low’s and I know what it takes to get to the high’s.
