Event description

Description

For the past 5 months a group of enthusiastic and talented participants from the Aged City Living program have been gathering weekly to learn more about the world of dramatic arts.

The group have named themselves Street Seen Theatre, and with the assistance of Alan Hendry from Vintage Theatre Co-operative have been learning about the skills and techniques required for theatre performing. Each week participants take part in drama games that require them to develop confidence and skills in vocal projection, improvisation, and team work. In addition to developing drama skills, these workshops have also given the participants an opportunity to share their stories and ideas by working on a final performance piece together, ‘Our Street’.

‘Our Street’ will showcase a series of short stories reflecting the experiences and values of the participants. The story reflects how the Hutt St Centre is a place that brings together people with diverse stories and experiences in a community that values respect, avoids judgment and provides opportunities for genuine connections with others.

We thank Alan Hendry and Benita from Vintage Theatre Co-Operative for all of the time and effort they have dedicated in supporting our participants over these past months. We also thank the State Government and the Office for the Ageing for awarding the Senior’s Grant that assisted us in developing this drama group.
