Event description

Description

You are warmly invited to attend with your family to celebrate your daughter and her peers’ achievements in Sport throughout 2017.

Over 150 awards will be presented throughout the evening, including Sportswoman of the Year. We will also hear from two inspirational guest speakers: Rowena Webster and Penny Cula-Reid.

On the evening, girls will be presented with awards, and films of our sporting highlights will be on show!

Following the event, a supper will be offered to families in the Contemporary Learning Centre (Year 7 and 8 area), where you can celebrate and meet our special guest speakers. You can also win some great lucky door prizes!

Please note that tickets will be released in two parts: the first exclusively to our award winners; the second to the entire school community.

If you are an award winner, please ensure you book before Wednesday 1st November so you don’t miss out on your place.

Rowena Webster
Affectionately known as ‘Rowie’, Rowena Webster is the current Australian Women's Water polo vice-captain and a two-time Olympian. She is a London Olympic bronze medalist, Junior World Champion, and has been rated in the top 3 players in the world two years in a row in 2013 and 2014. She has represented Australia as a member of Australia women's national water polo team on both the junior and senior level and is also a qualified PE Teacher.

Penny Cula-Reid
Penny was an Australian rules football player, playing in the inaugural season of the AFLW for the Collingwood Football Club in 2017. Prior to signing with Collingwood for the national competition, she was a multiple premiership player in the Victorian Women’s Football League and club captain for the St Kilda Sharks. She made her senior debut for the Sharks at age 15, and her career has taken in an assortment of accolades: state selections, a club best and fairest, All-Australian jumpers and being picked up by the Western Bulldogs in the first AFL women’s draft. Penny is an advocate for women’s sport and played an instrumental role in the development of a youth girls competition back in 2003 when she was only 14 years old. She has now found a passion for coaching and was the coach of the Collingwood Football Club Next Generation Academy that ran here at Strathcona in Term 3. She has just been appointed the Coach of the Collingwood Football Club’s VFLW team and very much looking forward to her exciting new career off the field.
