About this Event

'Storytelling through poetry'

Been thinking about writing poetry but haven't got a creative bone in your body? Don't know where to start? Or maybe you've already enjoyed putting words together but could do with a creative boost?

Join Jocelyn Munro for an afternoon of poetic adventure. See how much fun you can have with the poetic form - after all, poetry is a way of painting with words!

Bring along your notebooks and pens, an open mind, a sense of curiosity and adventure.

We will work, as time permits, on writing rhyming and non-rhyming poems, e.g. limericks, haiku, a short narrative poem (which tells a story), free verse (does not need to rhyme, though it may), and an acrostic poem.

About the host:

Jocelyn Munro has been writing poetry since she was eight years old, She has had poetry and stories published in New Zealand and Australia and is a current member of the North Eastern Writers Inc, based in Tea Tree Gully. In 2019 Jocelyn's first book of poetry, 'Pinecones & Rhubarb & Little Hissy Kisses' was published by Ginninderra Press

For many years Jocelyn has worked with primary school children, adult groups, and people in the mental health sector, to teach the art of crafting poetry. Jocelyn is passionate about helping people to discover the pleasures of using different forms of poetry and inspiring people's creativity.
