Description

LAND OF THE LONG WHITE CLOUD

I was lucky enough to grow up in New Zealand, and I will always remember with fondness the incredible nature of this amazing country, the large open spaces, fresh green grass, native flora and fauna, fresh air, beaches, ocean and simple lifestyle. One of our favourite vacation spots when I was young was the Coromandel Peninsula, and it is here where I am retreating for 5 days in November with a small group of students from the Hatha Yoga Sydney community.

I am really excited to share this beautiful retreat with you, show you some of my native homeland and practice on the stunning and sacred native bushland where Te Moata Retreat Centre is located.

If going on a Yoga Retreat has been on your bucket list for a while, now is the perfect time to take advantage and scoop up one of the last 2 remaining places.

Listen closely to your intuitive voice and seize the opportunity to take some time away for yourself to rest, reset and restore your body, mind and spirit.

This retreat will have an emphasis on becoming more aware of self-care in our day to day in order to regulate stress, mood imbalances and emotional responses. But I also have a goal of going deep, very deep into the practices to create internal shifts and openings so that the retreat serves you to be bold enough to create change where change is needed, to let go of stagnant habit patterns that no longer serve you and to have the courage to break the addictive habit patterns of the mind that create the same result over and over again. It will be about growth, expansion and opening yourself to all the experiences on offer...

Are you in?

There are many ways to describe the richly varied and remote beauty of Te Moata. None of the physical descriptions can really do justice to the experience of the powerful presence of nature at Te Moata.

The land itself is 344 hectares, protected by a covenant since 1987 and covered in regenerating native bush with the two dominant species being rewarewa and kamahi, with nearly 200 species of plants having been recorded. There are still original remnants of the magnificent Podocarps which once reigned in the area: rimu, totara and kahikatea and three large groves of re-growing kauri. The land form is a volcanic caldera, and the views from the ridgeline of the caldera are breath-taking. Three healthy streams are dominant features of the landscape.

Imagine what 5-days breathing in fresh, clean forest air and convening with nature could do to your soul? We need to connect back to nature in order to remember what it is to form part of her. For me, nature is completely healing, like a soothing balm applied to a wound. Don't ever forget the power nature can have on every aspect of your being.

We will be rising early for morning practice, treated to an incredible array of healthy, nutritious vegetarian food to support our internal retreat journey, practicing again at midday and winding down in the early evening with a meditation, relaxation or Yoga Nidra class.

We'll even have an excursion out to the local hot water beach and a visit to Cathedral Cove during one of the afternoons, so you'll be able to see some of the local splendour!
