About this Event
The City of Melton January Tech Heroes School Holiday Club created by Western BACE and powered by the City of Melton Libraries Team. Girls and Boys Aged 5-15 from the City of Melton can join in a range of free self-paced Robotics, pop-up, Coding, Design, Tech, and advanced challenges this School Holiday. Group and 1-1 online support will be provided by the Western BACE STEM Squad and robotics kits by the Western BACE STEM Lending Library. Additionally, participants have the opportunity to earn extra points towards the City of Melton verse City of Yarra Reading Competition. At the end of the program participants will have a chance to submit their challenges and go in the running to win a robotics kit.
A great first introduction for younger girls and boys aged 5-8 to STEM. Under the guides of the Western BACE STEM Squad, participants will be taken through a series of coding activities delivered in-person. Children will learn the basic principles of programming and coding an Ozobot, a miniature line following robot which can sense and understand instructions using markers or stickers. This is a fun, engaging and low-pressure activity, no prior coding experience is required.

Session 1: 10:00am - 10:45am
Session 2: 11:00am - 11:45am
Session 3: 12:00pm - 12:45pm
Who is this challenge suitable for?
- Boys and girls aged 5-8 years. No prior coding experience required.
- Participants will receive hands-on support to understand the basic principles of programming and coding an Ozobot
- At the end of the program, kids will have a chance to submit their work and go in the running to win robotic kit.
- Limited number of 1-1 bookable spots available, participants within the City of Melton will be have first priority
This program is proudly supported by the City of Melton Libraries Team, if oversubscribed priority will be given to Parents and Kids residing in the City of Melton.
