STEM Careers in Industry - South Australia
Event Information
Description
Where will you be in five years? If you are considering a career in industry - how will you get there? Or if you are mentoring someone keen to understand their career options - what advice do you share? What are the key skills and attributes industry seeks in their future STEM workforce? What is available in South Australia?
The Industry Mentoring Network in STEM (IMNIS) welcomes you to our STEM Careers in Industry panel event where you will hear from STEM professionals in industry with expertise in different parts of the STEM industry sector. Hear how they have applied their STEM training to lead and excel in a range of rewarding roles.
Professor Caroline McMillen, Chief Scientist for South Australia, will lead an insightful discussion with our expert industry panel. These outstanding professionals will share their career journey and discuss transferable skills, implicit skills (also called 'soft' skills), the value of a professional network, potential jobs of the future, what is available in South Australia and what is planned in the future, and their top tips for success. Think outside the square and dream big about future careers!
There will be time for questions and refreshments will be served (registration opens 5:20 pm). This event is for all mentors and mentees participating in the IMNIS programs in South Australia. Other STEM students, postdocs and industry professionals are also welcome to attend. Seats are limited so registration is essential.
IMNIS is a national initiative of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering. The Academy is grateful to IMNIS Partners - MTPConnect, METS Ignited, NERA, AusBiotech and Mentorloop - and Sponsors BHP, KPMG and CSL, for their ongoing support of this flagship initiative.
Industry professionals who mentor with IMNIS generously donate their time, energy and expertise to the development of Australia's future leaders in STEM. The Academy gratefully acknowledges their visionary leadership and investment in the future STEM workforce.
