Description

STEM and the Social Innovator's Classroom

The upsurge of interest in STEM presents a challenge for teachers: how can we make STEM learning relevant and purposeful? We believe one answer is to tap into young people's passion for social change by using STEM as the basis for social innovations.

Unstuck Learning Design and Engaged Learning have partnered to bring you a highly interactive training day including the following areas:

  • The Social Innovators's Knowledge Set, Mindset, Skillset and Tool Set;

  • How to choose/find a suitable STEM challenge - curriculum relevance, inspiration and independence;

  • The Social Innovation process - pitches, parameters, plans perspectives and personal networks;

  • Thinking globally, acting locally;

  • Completing a social challenge - experiencing a social innovation the way your students would;

  • Getting started - participants will plan their first STEM social innovation challnege with the opportunity to share ideas and receive critique.

Participants will experience a variety of techniques for use with their students and take away a tool-box of resources for their classroom.

NOTE: Early Bird Rate - $200 AUD if you book by 16th December 2017
