Description
Welcome to the official page for the Sydney Stealthjam - the world's first 48-hour game jam devoted to the stealth genre of videogames.
Held at the Sydney AIE campus in Ultimo, this leg of the Stealthjam will hope to be big and great and showcase the world of stealth to the world.
Kicking off at the campus on the second level of the Wentworth Park Grandstand on Wattle Street at 5pm (for a 6pm start), you'll be able to join as a team, or come along to either join a team on the night or freelance your skills to teams that need some art, music, or code.
Catering will be provided, as will fantastic computers with the latest technology and software packed into them - you won't even need to bring your own equipment! Just bring your sleeping bag, changes of clothing, toiletries, and your game-developing cap, and you'll be good to go!
For any specific questions you can visit the Official StealthJam site, and you can also tweet anything StealthJam related to @Sneaky_Bastards using the hashtag #StealthJam. We've also got some Frequently Asked Questions below.
Thanks to our sponsors at AIE, BlackBerry, Konami and more for making this whole event possible!
The $5 we're asking for goes towards the cost of pulling off the event, and proceeds go straight to charity!
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
- Q: Where is the StealthJam being held?
- A; The StealthJam in Sydney is being held at the Sydney AIE campus, on Level 2 of the Wentworth Park Grandstand in Wattle Street, Ultimo.
- Q: Do I need to bring anything?
- A: The AIE Sydney campus is decked out with almost everything you'll need to make your game during the jam. We're talking computers decked out with i7 CPUs and Internet access, music-making hardware, and more.
We recommend you refrain from bringing any equipment with you (except for music equipment if you plan on making or freelancing your own music) such as laptops, computers and the like. If you have files you want to bring along to help you make your game, please bring them on a USB storage device.
- Q: Will catering be provided?
- A: Some form of catering will be provided, but do bring money just in case.
- Q: Is this a full 48-hour event?
- A: Yes! You'll want to bring along your sleeping bag, changes of clothing, and toiletries (there are shower facilities on-site).
- Q: Are there Prizes?
- A: There will be prizes to give away - some at the conclusion of the jam itself and some later on at the official judging panel at iFEST. Do remember, however, that the point of a gamejam is not to get in it to win prizes, but to make some great games in a short amount of time.
- Q: Are the sleeping/toilet facilities?
- A: Yes! Bring your sleeping bag, changes of clothing and toiletries, as there will be "chill-out" and sleeping areas during the jam.
Also, there are toilets equipped with showers for freshening up between long, hot, game-developing nights.
- Q: Is my game idea xyz a Stealth game? Is it eligible for the Stealthjam?
- A: Get in touch with us via Twitter (use the hashtag #Stealthjam) or on the night and we'll be able to let you know and guide you in the right direction!
We'll be updating the FAQ section with new questions that come in over the next week as we prepare for the StealthJam!
See you then!
