Dr Annemaree Bickerton (Child, Adolescent and Family Psychiatrist) and Toni Garretty (Team/Clinical Coordinator) Family and Carer Mental Health Program-Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District present: “Staying Connected When Emotions Run High”, an interactive workshop for professionals.


This workshop will introduce professionals to the “Staying Connected When Emotions Run High” frameworks. It is open to those working in mental health, generalist health, alcohol and other drug services, education and training, emergency services, housing, and all other related government and non-government organisations. The training will assist participants to develop strategies to become a resource to someone (between 12yrs – 100yrs) who:

  • has difficulties managing changing emotions and strong or overwhelming feelings
  • displays impulsive and destructive behaviour
  • is diagnosed with marked emotion dysregulation
  • has challenges with relationships
  • has self-destructive or self-harming behaviour
  • problems with identity and sense of self


Event Details:

  • Registration begins at 8:00am; the workshop begins at 8:30am
  • Morning tea and lunch will be provided
  • Venue is walking distance from public transport
  • If you have registered directly with the event organiser, you do not need to register here
  • Participants who complete the workshop will receive a certificate recording 6.5 for CPD


This workshop is based on the highly successful intervention for families and carers, and is proudly hosted by the UnitingRecovery Family and Carers Mental Health program.
