Leilani Münter is a biology graduate turned race car driver and environmental activist. She believes it is essential for humans to adapt and evolve the way we are living to a sustainable way that does not destroy the world around us. Leilani is an advocate for renewable energy, solar power, electric cars, plant-based diet and animals. Leilani wants our future to be a cleaner and kinder world.
Coral reefs worldwide are under serious threat due to rising sea temperatures, ocean acidification and extreme weather events. Coral and anemone bleaching is expected to occur more often and with greater frequency in the future. Adding to the vulnerability of the reef is the problem of over collecting, particularly for the aquarium trade. Saving Nemo aims to raise awareness of the current plight of coral reef ecosystems and is acting to reduce the pressure of overfishing by promoting captive breeding for the aquarium trade. This is a real solution to help relieve at least one significant pressure to some of the most fragile and beautiful environments on earth.’
Leilani is visiting the Great Barrier Reef during her stay in Australia to help spread the word across the world.
