Event description

Description

Australia is facing a national extinction crisis.

We hold the world record for the highest number of mammals declared extinct since European settlement. We currently also have almost 2000 unique animals, plants and ecosystems listed as being under threat. Did you know that?

Weak protection for these species and their habitats combined with a lack of resources to invest in their recovery means that things are not looking good.

But there is something you can do about it.

On 10th September 2018 over 2000 individuals will take a visible public stand against extinction on the lawns of Parliament House- holding the names of the 2000 species we are currently set to lose.

If you are an organisation or you have a particular connection with a threatened species- let us know! We will be providing placards with species names to be held up, but we encourage you to bring along visual props that help us tell the story of the wonderful creatures and places we love.

Afterwards, grab some breakkie, check out the stalls and mingle with like-minded people!

Join us in taking a stand for our 2000 threatened plants, animals and ecosystems. Send a powerful message to our politicians that we know, we care, and we want new nature laws.
