Spotlight on the Scenic Rim: FREE Greater Glider 'Dine & Shine'
Event Information
About this event
'Dine & Shine' with Wildlife Queensland at Camp Moogerah for our Queensland Glider Network workshop, dinner and spotlighting evening.
Join guest presenters Paul Revie (Queensland Glider Network), Jessica Lovegrove-Walsh (Friends of Nerang National Park), and the crew from Geckoes Wildlife Presentations and Safe & Co for a FREE educational workshop and spotlighting event in the beautiful Scenic Rim at Camp Moogerah.
Enjoy a light lunch and dinner while you learn more about the region’s glorious gliding mammals, with a particular focus on the endangered southern and central greater glider (Petauroides volans) and the vulnerable yellow-bellied glider (Petaurus australis).
Attendees will:
- get up-close with some of Queensland’s adorable gliders, with an engaging native animal presentation by Geckoes Wildlife Presentations
- learn all about the preferred habitats, habits, and lifestyles of Queensland’s largest gliding marsupials and what makes them so hollow-dependent and at risk of extinction
- learn how to make and install much-needed glider nest boxes that act as artificial tree hollows
- learn about best-practice surveying and spotlighting techniques for gliders, and discover how landholders and the public can provide useful data that helps conservation biologists and ecologists as they work to save these species
- enjoy a light lunch and dinner while meeting like-minded nature lovers
- take an (optional – limited to 40 people) informative early evening spotlighting tour around Moogerah and Spicers Gap and hopefully spot some wild gliders! To book for spotlighting, please choose the 'with spotlighting' ticketing item.
Supported by the Australian Government’s Bushfire Recovery for Wildlife and their Habitats program.
