Event Details

I believe that small actions matter.

Shortly I will commence the 10 City Bridge Run where I will run 10 sub-marathons each of 24 km in 10 cities across 10 countries inside of one month. Visit http://10citybridgerun.com.
This is a global endurance challenge to raise awareness of the possibly to eradicate extreme poverty affecting children in our current generation.
Please support this effort with a sponsorship of $24.

Actually, this is about more than just running.
Each sub-marathon represents the 24,000 children under the age of five who tragically die every day based on an averaged-out figure from the 2008 child mortality rate (8.8 million child deaths).
While 0.1% of this figure comes from "Industrialised Countries" a staggering 50% occurs inside sub-Saharan Africa alone.
Addressing child mortality is key to unlocking extreme poverty, as well as an unsustainable population time bomb.
This is a crowdsourced and crowdfunded project- your contributions are not only welcome but necessary.
The cities to be visited are: 1. Sydney 2. New York 3. Toronto 4. London 5. Brussels 6. New Delhi 7. Banda Aceh 8. Shanghai 9. Tokyo 10. Seoul
Each city tells are story in this narrative, and each country is part of the G20.

This initiative is framed by two key institutional events.
The first is a high-level meeting in New York commencing today (20 September) to examine progress toward achievement of the Millennium Development Goals by 2015. The second is the G20 Summit to be held in Seoul this November. I contend that what happens in between these two events through the participation of people just like you and I is as important. I will finish my 10 sub-marathons in Seoul ahead of the important G20 Summit.

Together, we can be part of the difference that makes a difference by making the bridges needed to 'close the gap'.

One output from the 10 City Bridge Run is a book with a working title of "Above the Line" which will feature 1,000 photographs of people making bridges between themselves and others.  This book will be presented to the G20 Summit leadership as a 'pictorial petition' made possible through sponsorship. Each sponsor receives a copy of the book "Above the Line" (electronic copy for $24 and printed for $240), and a second copy given to a school with less than 240 students inside one of the G20 countries visited in the run.

You can read more about the other objectives for the 10 City Bridge Run at http://10citybridgerun.com

Please build the bridge between your leadership and the opportunity for education of our next generation to raise awareness of the possibility to eradicate extreme poverty affecting children.
Please support me today with a sponsorship of $24.

Help me achieve my target of 240 sponsorships for $24 during 20-22 September while the United Nations Conference in New York is convened.
