About this Event

Spectrum Training Event: Mentalization Based Treatment Q & A Session

Friday the 27th of November, 10:00am - 11:30am

This Q & A training session will discuss practice issues in relation to Mentalization Based Treatment in working with people with borderline personality disorder (BPD). The session will be delivered by live video-conferencing and will provide an opportunity to raise questions regarding both practice and theory and to participate in facilitated and informative consideration of the questions raised.

Topics for consideration will be on general practice questions rather than about specific clients.

The session is open to any mental health clinician who has practice or theory questions to raise, or who has an interest in participating in thoughtful consideration of issues related to practice (in working with people with BPD).

The session will be hosted by a panel of Spectrum workforce development clinicians: Julian Nesci, Andrew Mottram, and Alex Potter

Dr Julian Nesci is a senior clinical psychologist and accredited MBT practitioner. His work with Spectrum includes direct delivery of MBT in group and individual formats, as well as consultation and treatment for consumers, carers, clinicians and services within the Complex Care Service. Julian also has a background in working with people with complex presentations of eating disorder. Along with his colleagues, Julian is advancing Spectrum’s MBT program accreditation with the Anna Freud Centre in London.

Andrew Mottram is a senior clinical psychologist and accredited MBT practitioner. He holds broad experience in working with complex presentations of personality disorder across several therapeutic modalities, including ACT, DBT and MBT. His work with Spectrum includes consultation and treatment within the Complex Care Service as well as the delivery of MBT to both groups and individuals. Andrew is passionate about the MBT treatment approach and the value it holds for both consumers and clinicians.

Dr Alex Potter is a senior clinical psychologist and MBT therapist. He has experience in working with clients with complex personality disorders in community, forensic and private practice settings. At Spectrum he is a member of both the MBT team, running groups and working with individual clients, and the Complex Care Service, providing treatment and consultation. Alex sees MBT as a dynamic and flexible modality for working with people with personality disorders.

Please note, the Zoom meeting invitation will be provided closer to the event.
