SPECIAL EVENT | Photographing in public with Andrew Quilty
Overview
This workshop will be held at Logan Art Gallery and off site at the Global Food Markets in Woodridge a 13-minute walk away from the gallery.
In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to hear about Andrew's practice and gain practical tips and techniques about how to approach the world — and especially its people — with a camera in hand.
The prospect of photographing people you don't know can be nerve-wracking or
even downright terrifying. The way a photographer deals with such responses can make the difference between seeing the potential for a beautiful photograph and realising it; it can also dictate whether the experience of photographing in public places is enjoyable, stressful, or even confrontational.
Andrew will talk through some ways of overcoming inhibitions that all
photographers focussing on real life as it happens contend with and help to take the first steps toward putting them into practice.
The workshop is designed for photographers of all levels of experience. All cameras, including phone cameras, are welcome.
