Event description

Description

note: EVENTS ON JULY 2018 ARE BY INVITATION ONLY (2-6 JULY) OR OPEN ONLY FOR REGIONAL STUDENTS (2-6 JULY = 9 places)(9-13 JULY = 24 places).

Ever wondered what life as a research scientist would be like? Do you enjoy an intellectual challenge? …performing experiments? …solving complex problems? …analysing data? …and making exciting discoveries? Here’s your opportunity to find out by becoming a scientist in a real research institute for 5 whole days!

In SPARQed research immersions, senior secondary school students from all over Queensland join the research community at the Translational Research Institute to participate in hands-on, biomedical research under the guidance of real scientists. The experience includes interacting with leading researchers, postdoctoral scientists and PhD students, and exposure to cutting-edge research technologies and approaches in the context of a purpose-built, state-of-the-art research facility.

Students from regional Queensland or schools with an ICSEA (Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage) rating of 950 may be eligible for a scholarship
