Spark Festival: STEAM Pop-up Space and Fish Tank
Thu. 27 October 2016, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm AEDT
The Spark POPUP Space & Fish Tank are free events for Year 7, 8 & 9 students, held over two days - Thursday 27th & Friday 28th October 2016 - at the MAAS Powerhouse Museum and UTS Business School, in Ultimo.
These two days form part of the Spark Festival - a community weeklong festival in the last week of October to connect technology, people, ideas & resources across the Sydney innovation ecosystem.
The Spark POPUP Space is fully immersive, exciting and a dynamic educational experience where students will discover the delights of the latest in science & technology and creative entrepreneurship in our POPUP space.
The Fish Tank day will provide a special opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to sharpen their business ideas.
Please note that there is a maximum capacity of 25 students per school. We encourage you to register your interest ASAP (by Monday 19th September) to avoid disappointment. All schools will be notified of their attendance status via email by Friday 23rd September.
Day One: Students will get a chance to observe drones fly and do cool tricks, interact with robots, make working lamps, print their own 3D objects (to take home!) and learn to code their own iPhone app, emoticon or chat bot.
Please note you need to register your interest for THE CODING ZONE by reserving a ticket (below)
Day Two: The ‘Fish Tank’ will provide a special opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to
sharpen their business ideas. Fish Tank is for those students who have already been introduced
to the idea of entrepreneurship and want to further that knowledge by exploring how to
create a business model and learn how to make their ideas fly. Students will participate in
creative design thinking exercises and gain confidence in public speaking, as well as present
their amazing ideas to potential ‘investors’. Students will also get a chance to judge how well
adults present their ideas to them when they get ‘reverse pitched’.
