Southside 4pm It's Rocket Science Year 3 - Year 5
Event Information
Description
Who wants to build and launch a rocket with the most sought-after incursion in Queensland and Australia’s only water rocket specialists? We’ve convinced them to come to WA to do a special day for our Homeschoolers.
We're raising money to fund the Snapadore app, with a special event for young rocket engineers to experience the rush of adrenaline as they build and fly their very own rocket!
Produce the cause and effect principle by making a simple bottle rocket from recycled items that is then filled with compressed air and water. Feel the rush of adrenaline as your rocket is launched from specialist launch equipment 60 metres into the air!
This is science in action specifically designed to reinforce Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics STEM subjects and directly aligned to the Australian Curriculum (ACARA), in a pressure-free environment.
The kids will explore the science behind rockets, flight, forces, the laws of motion and use scaled instruments. Experience the excitement as they predict, observe and evaluate the altitude performance of their water rocket made from recycled items.
At the Wandi Community Hall we're doing 3 sessions for the different age groups:
-
Year 3 - Year 5, Go For Altitude 4pm - 5:30pm
-
Open Ages, Night Launch Mission & BBQ: Astro Egg 6pm - 8pm (with glow in the dark rockets, this is cool)
Prices are per child.
We know homeschoolers have a range of ages and we can be flexible on the ages for each session. Just bear in mind that the sessions are tailored for that age group. The younger children will be doing a different session from the older children to ensure maximum understanding, fulfillment and enjoyment. You will also be provided with the below educational information tailored for the age group you book your children into.
These rocket people know the workloads of time-poor homeschool educators and provide value long after the workshop. All the tedious work is done for us to ensure the students maximise their participation and overall satisfaction, including:
-
Complete lesson plan
-
Step by step "Bottle Rocket Instructions' student resource sheet
-
Students data worksheets
-
Extension ideas for home
-
Australian Curriculum connections.
Each rocket science workshop has a duration of 90 minutes with a maximum of 40 students per session to ensure safety and overall participant satisfaction. As they are NOT an entertainment show, they do require smaller groups to facilitate the experiments and for students to gain the optimum learning experience from gathering data and safely performing the STEM investigation.
