Event description

Description

Difficulty: Hard
Distance: ~100km per day, ~2000vm per day
Terrain: 10% singletrack, 80% fire trail, 10% sealed

Hills, dirt roads, sweet camping locations, lots of bush. What more could you want! This is a really tough ride, but the scenery is top notch.

GETTING THERE
We'll catch the 6.24am train from Central to Blackheath on Saturday morning, which arrives at 8.37am (if it's running on time).

THE ROUTE
Starting in the Blue Mountains, we'll be headed into the Megalong Valley and down the Six Foot Track (those on mountain bikes will have more fun!) and then up (and then down) to Jenolan Caves. Then up the other side to Kanangra Walls. We'll then head out to Wombeyan Caves, and then up and over some hills (including possibly the best dirt descent, and the best dirt climb, you'll ever do) out to Mittagong. Depending on how full the trains are you can hop off there, or you can continue through the Southern Highlands and down Macquarie Pass to Albion Park.

You can view the route here: https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/2131445563

GETTING HOME
There are trains from Mittagong, however they are 2-car trains with a maximum capacity of 2 bicycles. That's why we've extended the ride to finish in Albion Park, where regular train services with 4 or more carriages will take you back to Central. As Monday is a public holiday, there will not be that many train services, so you may get home late.

WHAT TO BRING
This is a totally self-supported ride. You need to bring EVERYTHING you will need for the whole 3 days. This includes but is not limited to:
-a bike that you're confident riding on very rough dirt trails and roads
-a tent/shelter, sleeping bag, sleeping mat
-stove and liquid/gas fuel
-food
-spares and tools to fix your bike in remote areas

We have a suggested packing list here, but if in doubt ask us: https://omafiets.com.au/pages/touring-what-to-bring

There is very limited potential for resupply, at Jenolan Caves (afternoon of day 1, there is a kiosk/cafeteria) and Wombeyan Caves (evening of day 2, there is small shop). You can't rely on these shops as you don't know if you'll get there before they close!

We will distribute a risk waiver closer to the event.
