Event description

Description

How can design and innovation contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals? How can the forward thinking of creative problem solvers help realize ‘The Future We Want’, particularly the ambitious principles and broad targets set in the UN 2030 Agenda for ‘Transforming Our World’? This one-hour lecture highlights some of the innovative solutions that deliver positive impacts to the society, the environment and the economy in the Southern Hemisphere. It presents a collection of sustainable products, services and systems, both existing and emerging, as found in Australian and Latin American contexts. Solutions covered include those addressing poverty, hunger, health, education, water, sanitation, energy, and environment. This Keynote Lecture is intended to ignite the spark for jumpstarting collaborative research on DfS challenges and issues common to the Southern Hemisphere, as well as stimulate design students to co-generate forward-thinking ideas with their counterparts for a shared sustainable future.
