South Botany Course 11 November 2020
What is it?
FPA will be holding a regional one-day course on Tasmania’s flora. This course is designed for forestry practitioners, in particular Forest Practices Officers and forest planners involved in preparing forest practices plans who need to be able to identify and manage flora values. The course will cover:
• identifying local eucalypts, trees and shrubs –particularly species that are used for vegetation community identification using the Forest botany manual
• identifying sites of significance that are likely to support priority flora species or priority vegetation communities
• identifying weeds and disease.
The course fee includes provision of both TreeFlip and EucaFlip.

On the day
The field day will begin at 9am and finish around 4pm. Course locations and meeting points will be provided to participants prior to the course.
Participants will need to have access to a vehicle for the course as we aim to visit multiple field sites each day covering a range of vegetation communities and species. Car-pooling is highly encouraged due to limited parking at field sites. Car-pooling can also be arranged at the starting point of the day as this site has been selected due to available parking. There will also be a few places available in FPA vehicles.
The entire day will be conducted in the field (in the unpredictable Tassie weather), so please ensure you have sturdy footwear, wet weather clothing, sunscreen and a helmet. FPA will have limited spare equipment available.
We will be in touch with you closer to the date to determine exact sites and locations.
