Event description

Description

Disaster planning is the organised approach to minimising the impact of emergencies that may affect museums and their collections. These can range from damage caused by incorrect handling and pest infestations right through to major natural events such as floods, fires and storms.

While preparedness can’t prevent a disaster, it can avoid an emergency becoming an all-out catastrophe. And that means being aware of the issues that may confront your museum and having a plan in place to ensure an ordered and orderly response to those events.

Mr. Kim Morris, director of Art and Archival Pty Ltd of Queanbeyan, will present this workshop. Kim is a qualified conservator with more than 35 years’ experience in the movable cultural heritage conservation field, including extensive experience in disaster management training.

This event has been made possible through funding from Museums and Galleries NSW with additional financial and other support from the local museum organisation, South East History Group Inc. It is open free of charge to all volunteers from SEHGI member organisations and museums from the Eurobodalla LGA, and includes morning and afternoon tea and a light lunch.
