Driving a songwriting session as a producer

This workshop lead by Chelsea Warner will include a deep-dive into the songwriting and production process.

Chelsea is a meticulous producer, songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist and creates forward-thinking R&B, pop and hip-hop. Within her community she is becoming a go-to producer & co-writer, and is cultivating her own lane of alt-R&B with her own music, exploring self, girlhood and growth. Her project has received grassroots support from Triple J Unearthed, FBi Radio, MTV Australia, TikTok Australia & Spotify Australia.

The workshop will include:

How to run a session:

  • Workflow: building a loop
  • Session organisation
  • Creative idea generation: different starting points (samples, melodies, music theory)
  • Arranging a loop into a track

How to work with reference tracks

  • Demonstrate building loops from reference tracks in different styles

Chelsea's got the vision and skills as a producer, player, writer and singer to realise that vision. When she sings about "eyes on me"? Only a matter of time.
