Solving Behaviour Problems -

A Personal PBS Plan and Good Practical Ideas for Parents

EACH TICKET IS FOR UP TO TWO PARENTS/CAREGIVERS FROM THE SAME FAMILY

This workshop, with Dr Gary LaVigna from the USA is the FIRST TIME it has been offered to Australian parents. Working in small groups, Gary will lead parents to develop their own Positive Behaviour Support Plan for their child during the session.

This plan can then be used as a base for families, professionals, support workers and schools to support positive behaviour, and reduce the stuff that makes life harder for your child and those around them.

This workshop is appropriate for parents of children and adults of all ages with disabilities such as autism, intellectual disability, brain injury, and communication difficulties with challenging behaviours

Parents who attend will come away with:

  • An understanding of what Positive Behaviour Supports are.
  • Ideas on how to change environments and support your child to prevent tricky behaviours.
  • Tips and tricks to support behaviour on a day to day basis eg: "What do I do when...?".
  • Strategies on how to deal with tricky situations and how to problem solve new tricky situations.
  • A basic PBS plan developed just for their own child.
  • Ideas on how to find PBS supports and specialists, and how to help those around your child to actually USE the PBS Plan.
  • Information on how the NDIS can help with Positive Behaviour Supports.
  • New connections with other parents facing similar challenges.
  • A full tummy with yummy lunch.

TITLE: Solving Behaviour Problems - Some Good Ideas for Parents

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: This 4-hour workshop will describe positive behavioural strategies to support your child and minimize problem behaviours that you face. The workshop will focus on how to increase your child’s presence and participation in the community by making changes in the environment, teaching skills, problem behaviour prevention, and situational management. There will be an opportunity to participate in online follow-up sessions.
WORKSHOP LENGTH: 4.5 hours
DATE: 3 September 2017
TIME: 10am-2:30pm (includes a light lunch - please email if you have dietary requirements)
TICKETS: Each ticket is for up to TWO parent/caregivers from the same immediate family - eg: tickets are effectively assigned to ONE person with disability to develop their PBS plan. If you have an NDIS plan, and are self or plan managed, you may be able to claim this through your CB or Core supports if this is a reasonable and necessary support that is aimed at helping your child meet their NDIS goals. You can choose "invoice" as your payment method, make your claim with today's date (self managers) and then pay via direct deposit.
