The Australian Government Style Manual has been updated for the first time in almost 20 years. The rules for government writing have changed. In this workshop, Chas Savage will guide participants through these new rules and conventions to help make the work of producing and communicating complex ideas easier for busy professionals.
This workshop will be delivered on Zoom in two 3-hour sessions, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm AEDT on 11 November and 12 November 2020.
Objectives
After attending The Essentials of Australian Government Writing Style, participants will be better able to:
- understand the important features of the Australian Government Style Manual – and what is different from previous editions
- write and edit content and documents that aligns to Australian Government style
- produce content and documents that are clear, inclusive, accessible and findable
- understand important style conventions about punctuation, plain language, titles, numbers, capitalisation, and accessibility and diversity
- understand the digital environment and navigate www.stylemanual.gov.au efficiently and confidently.
Target Audience
- Anyone who uses a style guide or manual and wants to understand content from the new Australian Government Style Manual
