Susannah Fullerton: A Touch of Irish Magic 3 part series: Three Dublin Writers
It has been said that whenever the English language goes to sleep, along comes an Irish writer to wake it up! This short series of lectures features three of the great Irish writers, all of them born in Dublin - Jonathan Swift, George Bernard Shaw and James Joyce. Learn something of their extraordinary lives, discover what inspired their novels, plays, short stories and poems, and listen to extracts from some of their finest works.

Lecture 3: JAMES JOYCE

The world of literature changed forever when Joyce's Ulysses was published in 1922. It made Joyce's reputation as the most important modernist author of the 20th century. However, it was not written in Dublin, the city it celebrates, but in Europe. Discover more about James Joyce, his novels, short stories and his turbulent life.

"A man of genius makes no mistakes; his errors are volitional and are the portals of discovery.”
