Solar Printing Workshop
Event Information
About this Event
In this hands on workshop you will create your own cyanotype prints on archival fine art paper. Cyanotype printing is a historic photographic printing process, used by artists, botanists and architects, which uses the light of the sun to expose light sensitive paper. This process is experimental in nature resulting in unique original artworks. Drawing on the natural surrounds as inspiration, participants will use botanicals to create a range of unique prints.
Since each print is handmade and made in collaboration with nature, tones will vary from light blue hues to deep shades of indigo blue. A perfect combination of nature, art & alchemy!
No experience necessary and all materials are provided.
About the artist:
Eleanor is a Sydney based artist whose practice encompasses installation, printmaking, drawing and photography. Influenced by archetypal psychology and the rituals of the everyday she explores the intimate interior landscapes and thresholds we reside in, and move between. Inspired by the interplay of the natural world and the creative gesture, she enjoys sharing elements of her practice with others and facilitates a range of classes and workshops.
Eleanor holds an honours degree in Visual Communications and Master of Art at UNSW Art & Design. She is a recent finalist in the Ravenswood Women's Art Prize & Hornsby Art Prize.
