Event description

Description

ABOUT THIS EVENT: VAN GOGH X HOCKNEY

There are many parallels between Vincent Van Gogh and David Hockney's art. To celebrate the wonderfully colourful beauty of Spring, we're using Van Gogh's Wheatfield with Cypresses (1889) and Hockney's series The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate (2011) to guide our work for the day. Choose between these paintings, or perhaps be inspired by both of them - and make it your own!

Classe Petit's Social Painting sessions are a fun way to meet new people, rediscover your love for painting or simply explore what creativity means to you in a relaxing, supportive environment. Our paint and sip events run for approx. 3 hours to allow plenty of time to socialise and get to know others in the room.

In each session, we use at least one modern masterpiece to inspire our own work. We're not after reproductions – instead we fully encourage everyone to tell their own story by creating your own version of the featured art. You'll be surprised at what you come up with; in fact you'll fall in love with it and be proud to call it your own.

Each social painting session only hosts up to 16 people. We encourage you to come with friends, so group discounts apply. No experience necessary, just an open mind :-)

Schedule:

1:30-1:40 Arrive, Meet & Drink
1:40-3:20 Intro + Painting
3:20-3:30 Break
3:30-4:50 Painting
4:50-5:00 Finish + View others' work

What you will learn:

  • Basic skills on how to start sketching / painting with acrylic

  • Learn about modern art and famous artists, from Pablo Picasso to Gustav Klimt

  • Learn from the masters by creating your own version of their artwork

What you will get:

  • All art materials and aprons provided. Take home your masterpiece at the end of class!

  • A small selection of wine and tea will be provided. You are welcome to BYO drinks too!

  • New friends! :-)

Classe Petit focuses on the journey, not the destination. In our class, we don’t talk about what’s “correct” or “proper”; we encourage free explorations of ideas and techniques, which very often leads to discovering a whole new world of possibilities!
