Social History Taster Tours at Abbotsford Convent - Open Spaces
Sun. 6 November 2016, 12:45 pm – 3:45 pm GMT-08:00
The Abbotsford Convent Foundation is passionate about sharing the history of this culturally significant site. On the tours, curious community members discover the diverse history of the Convent: from its use as a meeting point for the Kulin Nation; to its days as a Convent when the Good Shepherd Sisters ran a closed monastic site for over a century; to its establishment as an arts, culture and education community. Living memories have been collected from former residents and caretakers of the land, which volunteers share during the tours.
Tours are at 12.45pm & 2.45pm. Please select your preference time.
This tour is presented as part of the Abbotsford Convent Foundation's flagship multi-arts event, Open Spaces 2016. Tickets to tours include general entry to Open Spaces – simply show your tour ticket at the gate upon arrival. Without a prepurchased ticket, general entry to Open Spaces is $2 at the gate (children under 5 are free). For more information, please see the Abbotsford Convent's website.
